What kind of filter media do i need for my canister filter?

Question by yoyogegihehe: What kind of filter media do i need for my canister filter? im setting up a new 46 gal aquarium fish tank and its all second hand stuff and i have no idea how to use a canister filter - ive used other filters but not canister so what do i need for it? it came with 4 baskets and a black spongy thing so what do i need to buy??? help!!!! its a cascade canister filter and im gonna have african cichlids - need lots of detail please! thanks a ton!
